Who We Are

The Hope House Youth Board is a student-led organization focusing on encouraging youth to serve and spreading awareness of the homeless issue in our community. We also raise funds for the Hope House through original youth- led events. The Youth Board was reorganized in 2010 and is comprised of high school students from Hancock, Shelby and Rush counties. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month during the school year.

In a typical meeting, the Youth Board recaps any previous community event with suggestions for improvement. After a quick rundown of news from the Hope House Executive Director, the Youth Board brainstorms and plans for their next project. The group moves quickly, so active involvement and attendance by all members I crucial. Members are asked to make up for missed meetings by volunteering in the WEARhouse Thrift Store. This is meant to keep all members actively connected to the shelter and to provide much needed volunteer help.

The Youth Board reaches out and touches many levels of our community throughout the school year. The support of the community has been pivotal to helping the driven leaders of the Youth Board to achieve the group’s goals. The Youth Board looks forward to continued growth and success in the years to come.
